  • Hey, friends,
Whew! What a busy week I've had - I worked last Sunday afternoon doing an interview for a story, a full 40-plus week, then more than eight hours yesterday because it was my turn to be the "editor-of-the-weekend" for today's Sunday paper.
We do a week's worth of special sections, 16 pages each, the last week in February every year, and it takes all hands working lots of extra hours to get it all done. It's fun work, but I'm tired!
Just a little bit tired of dreary gray skies, "wintry mix" and damp cold that gets in your bones, too. I chose this cheerful yellow background to remind myself that soon the forsythia will be blooming, and the daffodils won't be far behind. We already have a wet brown yard dotted with crocuses in all kinds of Easter-eggy colors.
    Coming soon..........

Doyle and I went to Mass this morning, came home and both worked together to clean up our little house....D vacuumed and mopped the floors, and I got the laundry going, dusted, etc. Then we headed to the kitchen and made our favorite meal, chicken chalupas topped with fresh avocado, cilantro, lettuce, lime juice, grated cheese and salsa..yum! Now we're both being quite lazy. I even took a nap - slept for 15 whole minutes before the college boys next door started working on their car outside my bedroom window!
I think I'll be lazy a little longer and read my book for a while before I finish the rest of the laundry, clean the bathroom and start ironing so I'll have something to wear to work in the morning.
What are you up to, my friends?

  • I dashed off that email before checking for new posts....I LOVE the picture! How good is that?! Was that just taken recently? SO GOOD of both of you...WOW!

And wow to your busy week! Whew! I hope you get tomorrow off, to do something you enjoy, just for you. You deserve it The paper is so fortunate to have you there. Hope they know that and treat you accordingly!

Crocuses, forsythia, daffodils....any day now! Green shoots are poking up in my beds, and if the ice will just go away, they might think about shooting on up. Remember how warm it was last March? Everyone is ready!

Hope you have a good week, one that is not so busy as this last one.

  • I love the picture of the two of you too, you both look so happy and pretty:) Love, Gerrie

  • Just chillin'.

  • Taking care of a teething little tweet. Baking a yummy looking cheesecake. Well, the picture in the Food & Wine mag looked yummy. We'll see... Oh and getting ready to sew for a bunch of girls.

  • That is a really lovely picture!

Thanks for you kind comments on my "Princess or Stray" series. I appreciate you taking time to read it and comment. That is always encouraging.

I hope you have a glorious week!

  • That was a fun glimpse into your life. Props to Doyle for the domestic participation. And thanks for the reminder that spring is coming! As I look out on the crusty layers of recent snowfalls, it's hard to have faith.

    New life is coming!

  • Adorable picture.

This post is really making me hungry (the mexican food)

  • I am ready for spring this year. Looks like we might get a bit more snow tonight.  Rain today.  We have to move.  Back to our farm in Willow Springs.  I need to get busy and start loading the car, I want to paint the pantry,  it's the room that everyone comes into.  A coat of paint will do wonders!!!.  Have a blest day.  Dawn

  • Celia, you beautiful thing! And more than beauty, I love the glow of happiness that shows in both your and Doyle's faces.

I may be the only one who's not in a hurry for spring. I don't mind spring; it's the bigger, meaner summer that is right on spring's tail. I'd like a FEW more than about six days of spring before summer attacks!

I've spent the week nursing two girls with bad colds. Amos was away all week, and my life consisted of trips to Walgreens for more tissues, cough medicines, Popsicles, etc. But one of them went home, the other is almost well, and Amos is home...life is good!

Oh, and I did have another trip to the Art Museum with the Count; this one included the two girls, Shana and her friend. Once again, I learned so much my head spun, and I was moved to tears a time or two. The girls enjoyed it too, and were very impressed with the Count.

A blessed, relaxing, and happy week to you, my friend.

  • This is a voice from your distant past! I stumbled across your post while browsing xanga. I think of you and wonder what you are up to every time I go past "your house" in Macon.  I'm well and God is good!....Thelma B.
