Hey, friends,
Our biggest news of the week has been saying goodbye to my faithful Toyota Highlander, which has been with me for 91,000 miles, ever since I was a single magazine editor in Sarasota.
We exchanged the Highlander for a year-old Toyota Prius, which Doyle and I will share for now, until we can trade his Dodge Ram four-wheel drive diesel truck in for something that gets good mileage. He's driving to Springfield, Mo., many days out of the month for his new job as publisher of the Springfield/Branson Builders' Journal, so he needs the hybrid more than I do most days. The newspaper office where I work is on the town square, only about a half mile from our house.
We LOVE our little Prius -and we especially love the mileage we're getting. Check out the bottom of this info screen from the dashboard:

We are grateful consumers this weekend!

62.5 mpg!!! That's amazing!
So far the gas prices haven't really effected me...I still go and do what I want to. But that may change soon!
And know what stuck out to me in this post? A very tiny thing...but it brought back memories....a town square! The little town my folks were from (Green Forest, Arkansas) has a little square, and I remember "shopping" it when I was a kid. My dad met my mom outside the theater on the east side of the square....yep, brought some good memories to mind!
Cool, you could walk or ride a bicycle to work:) I'm so happy for you to have a new car...and a Prius... I have friends that have one, and they love theirs. So happy to see a post from you too:) love, Gerrie
Bravo for the car . Not too big so don' t eat too much gas . Times become had for the prices . Some people become richer and richer ( producers and salers ) but the consumers become poorer and poorer !
I watched you slide show and I can say Eureka Sprink looks like an attrctive place for artists and writers .
Love
Michel
62? 62? 62?
Nice that gas hasn't affected somebody (go granny). I feel like having an armed revolt, lol.
Traded in at 91,000..Oh my. We don't get rid of ours, they just die at about 230,000. My new vehicle gets 23 mpg..and that was an improvement. I don't travel much these days. How have you been? Congrats on the gas wonder car!
We are not making as many trips any where, we try to combine the "rat killing" and go out once. But sometimes it doesn't work. I bet those wonderful folks in Washington don't have to pay for their gas, and They will just vote themselves a nice pay raise to cover the higher prices. So they don't have a clue what its like to live with out a pay raise. Dawn
