  • Hey, friends,
I'm sorry I've been so lax in posting anything other than columns lately. My life feels like a train rushing down the tracks - I've worked more than 40 hours a week the past few, and my son is staying with us for a while, and Doyle is working from home, and things are just BUSY around this house, and I don't seem to have much quiet time to sit and write.
Today was a refreshing interlude after a busy, tense week. I slept in this morning, a decision we made last night, to let me sleep and not have to get up for early Mass here in Harrison. So I slept until after 8, then we got dressed and headed for the truck stop for a good breakfast on our way to 11 am Mass in a nearby town, Yellville. We took Hagrid with us, and he slept in the car in the shade while we were in church.
Then we headed for the Buffalo River at Maumee...if you'd like to see the photo album of the afternoon, I plan to post it above right.
Here are just a few to whet your curiousityIMG_0635 :

Can anybody identify this track, about four inches wide, Doyle spotted in the mud near the Buffalo? Maybe a bobcat?

  • It is always a pleasure to read one of your posts, particularly when you've been on one of your rambles. Even this semi-ramble was visually fun. My favorite is the gnarled root. I have missed your presence on xanga, but I know you have your hands full. And I'm praying for y'all. Give me an update when you get a breather.

  • I want an elf house! You always have such interesting pictures. I love the area where you live, and I would love to take another ten-day trip down through there as we once did. There's so much to see that's unexpected.

My friend, any length of time is too long to go between your posts--but it does sound like you've had way too much going on to write. Glad you got to sleep in a little and have such a pleasant day yesterday.

  • We all need a day just to stop and catch our breath.  I loved your photos...yes, it looks like a cat track to me.  Don't cats have 4 toes and dogs 3?

  • Loved all the pictures in your album...what a fun ramble! I'm sorry that Hagrid doesn't like swimming, though....Chip is born for the water, and to let him cool off is always a good, handy excuse to drive to the creek. I loved your beachcombing analogy....had never thought of searching creekbanks in that way, but it is perfect. Hope your work week started with you feeling refreshed and ready to go again...and hope it is a good one for you!

  • I want to see an Arkansas Bigfoot track.
