I'm back!
Dear friends,
I haven't blogged here on my dear old Annie Mockingbird Xanga site since March 22, and tonight, I just had to face the facts and admit to myself that I miss blogging here.
I stopped mainly because I had gotten hooked on Facebook, which is "Blogging Light." You don't really blog - you just write quick status updates of a sentence or two, but mostly what I find myself doing is reading lots of status updates from my friends, and the comments others put up. I can't explain why it's so addictive - but it is. Maybe one reason it is for me is that most of my many, many Facebook friends are people I know in "real life," many of whom I had lost touch with for years before reconnecting on Facebook, and it's been lots of fun to see their photos of their children and grandchildren and their homes and their vacations. But I've missed posting blogs here about our rambles in the hills and things like that, and I've missed reading your blogs. So I'm back - at least for a while! Here are a few of my favorite photos from our delightful ramble last Saturday with our good friends Joe and Katherine in the October Ozarks!

Love the pics. The wind here is just tearing the leaves off the trees. We are covered!!! Will have to blow and rake them onto the lane and burn them asap. This happens at least twice in the fall. Thank heaven for leaf blowers!!! Sure easier than raking everything.
I have gotten addicted to FB too. At least I only "waste time" on one game.
Whew! <--- That is the sound of exhaling. Finally, I can stop holding my breath, which I've been doing since you left. Apparently my being blue in the face wasn't enough to make you return. I'm glad you woke up and smelled the shallowness of facebook. The superficiality is off-putting. Really -- do I need to know how people are doing playing Farmland or whatever the heck that stupid game is? Oh no! Cathy just had a black sheep wander onto her farm! I couldn't give a rip. So, welcome back. Maybe you'll be my impetus for posting again. Since I lost you and Av and Wendybird and Robert Megert and a few lesser stars in the xanga sky, it's been hard to post to the near silence. Thank God for Katers.
Love your shots. Look at you and Doyle getting all dangerous and posing by the waterfall! And I'll ignore the shot of classy Celia on an ATV. Too jarring a juxtaposition.
I love having you back on xanga AND on facebook and would also love to have you sitting at my kitchen table right now, cup of coffee in hand, smile on your face, catching up....hope today is as good a day as last Saturday was for you!
Welcome home! All the things you describe about Facebook is EXACTLY why I don't go there. I've missed your spectacular photos. So, what have you done on your house in the last 6 months?
I was gone from Xanga for a while, for the same reason though. You are right, Facebook is oddly addictive. I do enjoy being in contact with family seperated by miles, or old friends -- but the charm is starting to wear off, and I am drawn back here. It's good to be back. :)
Hello again! Lovely Autumn pictures - the waterfall looks as though it might be a loud one!
Hi there. I popped over here after seeing your name on another site. I love your pictures. I've often thought I'd like to go to the local college and take a course in photography, but then just never do. As for blogging....I write it because I like to keep a diary, and this is my way of forcing myself to do it pretty regularly.
Glad you are back. I thought about closing down my site. but.... I love the fall it's my favorite with all the colors. Glad your back hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Dawn
I like Facebook, too, but there is nothing like Xanga for true blogging! I'm glad you're back; you're one of my favorite bloggers! ~Linda
