Wonderful photos, Celia! I LOVE the old stone schoolhouse and simply cannot believe that it is still full of desks. Amazing! The icicle shots are great, too....I've been wanting to get out and take some similar pix, but I just haven't had time.
At one time Ozark County had 90 (Yes, ninety) one-room schoolhouses, the most of any county in the state. I think it was in about 1919-1920. A few years ago, I decided I wanted to find and document with photos the ones that remain. Sadly, most of them are gone or have been so changed as to be unrecognizable as school buildings. Such an integral part of our regional history has almost disappeared. Thank goodness a few still stand. I've written several articles about these important structures and the role they played. My dream is to turn one into a living museum where school groups can come and sit in on "class" as it was taught 80 years ago.
I loved your black and white pictures, too, especially the one taken from below the trestle looking up....very nice!!!
Golly, but dem hills have FANGS!
I love how you circle around things, trying to find just the right angle, the most interesting frame. You have an artist's eye.
Breath taking. Parts of Arkansas are quite scenic
The Ozarks has just about anything you would want. Hills, or flat land, streams, lakes, rivers and Bald Eagles. I love to see them in the wild. It gives me goose bumps just thinking about them....... Dawn
