  • I have a new heroine, and her name is Governor Sarah Palin! John McCain's new VP candidate, governor of Alaska, happy wife and mother of five. She's just dynamite!

I first heard of Sarah Palin when our priest mentioned her from the pulpit last April. I came home and looked her up, and found this article. I think it speaks volumes about what kind of person she is.

    . -
Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin on Friday gave birth to her fifth child,
a son who has Down’s Syndrome.  She said that she and her family had
    been “truly blessed.”

Governor Palin’s labor began while she was in Texas at the
Governors’ Energy Conference where she gave the keynote luncheon
address.  She was able to fly back to Alaska in time to deliver her
son, Trig Paxon Van Palin, at 6:30 a.m.  He was born one month early
and weighed six pounds, two ounces.

Testing during early pregnancy revealed the baby had Down’s
Syndrome.  Governor Palin said she was sad at first, but her family now
feels blessed that God chose them.

The family released a statement which said, “Trig is beautiful and
already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face
special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us
with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We
have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has
potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed.”

(This beautiful comment, in light of the fact that NINETY PERCENT  of women who are told they are carrying a baby with Down Syndrome choose to have an abortion.)

Her appointment has given me such a lift of optimism
about our country. God bless Sarah Palin!

  • I'm shocked that 90% of people would abort a down's syndrome baby. In my experience as a person and as a special ed teacher, people with down's syndrome are usually the very sweetest of people, loving, hard-working, and not always as "retarded" as you think! And with knowing ahead of time, you can plan to work with the child early on to make its effects as minimal as possible (stimulation, etc., to help the brain achieve its absolute optimum level). When I scrolled down and saw all her family, the thought came to me that ALL of them will take such good care of this new baby boy, he will be just fine, and they will be better people for it, too. I agree, God bless them all.
    God bless you, too! Gerrie

  • Hi, thanks for stopping by my site and leaving your kind comments!  I love your post!  I just now found out about Sarah Palin, and so far, I really like what I hear/see.  I hope she is just what John McCain's campaign needs!  Anyway, thanks for stopping in, come back any time! :)

  • This has been a boost to my spirits, too! The first good news I've heard, politically, in a while....long overdue. I know that you immediately thought of little Ben when you heard this. It does help to know what kind of person Sarah is on the inside, someone who values human life. Her family is really beautiful. Thanks for sharing something positive. Hope you are having a good weekend.

  • When I told our oldest son who is a Marine about the VP pick he was very excited and told me she is  a GREAT CHOICE. She is an awsome Gov and doesn't take any bologna from any one.  I am a bit up set about the comments that some of Hillarys "people" made  about her.  We need  some family values back in this country if we are to make it.  I would give anything to go back up to Alaska I have been very lucky I got to go 3times but 1 time was just traveling through.  It is just beauitful and so open and just plain BIG.  At night you feel like you can touch the stars from your bed.  Have a great weekend.  Praying for the folks in the south as these latest storms come in.    Gold bless   Dawn

  • Thank you for sharing this, it is uplifting!  I'd never heard of her before!  Linda
